PERIODONTICS

Periodontal disease or gum disease, is caused when bacteria in plaque builds up between the gums and teeth. When the bacteria begin to grow, the gums surrounding the tooth can become inflamed. Periodontal treatment controls any infection that exists and halts progression of the disease.

Gum disease is caused by a number of factors, primarily poor oral hygiene which leads to a build-up of plaque on the teeth and gums. It can also be aggravated by smoking, certain diseases and medications.

Symptoms of Periodontal Disease-

  • Bleeding while eating or brushing
  • Bad breath
  • Loose teeth
  • Gum recession
  • Heart disease and diabetes are correlated

Periodontal treatment can be performed non-surgically, however, in more severe cases you may need a surgical intervention. We will do our utmost to treat your issues within the practice, leaving your gums feeling healthier and infection free.
